Maryanne’s musings: I haven’t needed to clip (or wax!) my horse but there’s certainly been a few times that he’s given me the NO face (like when trying to put him in a horse trailer that doesn’t have food in the front, but that’s fuel for another comic). The first sketch for this comic was the sour face horse and it went from there. The first panel is silhouetted as a bit of an experiment because it doesn’t seem to work as well if I squish a lot of detail into a small space. I felt that I needed to kick off the comic showing the 2 characters together to set the scene.  Experimenting with this new medium is half the fun 😉
