Maryanne’s musings: This one was inspired by my horse’s reaction to a puddle.  The puddle went all the way across the track so he had to step over it to continue on the trail.  Both directions he did the biggest cat-leap possible.  Luckily I had hopped off and stepped over the puddle myself before he followed on a lead rope.  I had a feeling  he’d cat-leap because he had his nose low to the edge of the puddle and was doing those little rapid up-down hoof steps at the edge so you can’t predict the exact moment he’ll launch into space.  I’m not normally one for opting to get off the horse but out on an unknown trail by myself it seemed the safe option.
